Roberto works in the fields and Maria cares for their home and kids.  She walks up the steep mountain several times a week to cut firewood and bring it back down on her head - with her baby on her back. They lived in an 8ft x 8ft lamina shack with their two boys in Buena Vista, a small, extremely poor village outside of Magdalena. The floor is dirt and they are using discarded pieces of plastic sheeting on the inside to try and keep the cold out. We asked Maria Sandi about their house and she said that her kids are always sick because the air blows in.  When her baby was a newborn, she slept in her sister-in-laws house so it would not be so cold for him.

Their new house means less cold and less sickness for her children.  For this, they are happy.
