Juan Alberto, Vanessa and their 2 little children lived in what is called a "Swiss house".  These houses were relief houses built by the Swiss after the devastating earthquake of 1976.  35+ years later the adobe mud base was eroding and a strong earthquake would most likely bring this house down. Water also seeped through these mud walls in the rainy season (6 months of the year).  Their living conditions were damp/wet and dangerous.

You can see from the smiles on their faces how happy they are with their new house.  They have been blessed beyond anything they could have imagined.   Juan Alberto is an agricultural worker and only makes enough to provide the basic necessities for his family - food and clothing.  They are so thankful for this gift of a house - something they never would have been able to do on their own.
